Visitors stepped back in time this summer! They joined us from 20th July - 1st September to see characters and cars from the past spring into action. Plus there was a touch of magic in the air... Chitty Chitty Bang Bang came to Beaulieu!
From medieval monks to Victorian butlers... visitors delved into over 800 years of history as they chatted to costumed characters, got hands-on with traditional games and saw historic motors in action.
Summer 2020 details to be confirmed...stay tuned!
out and about
We saw daily parades of vehicles spanning motoring history - featuring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
SEE Motors in action
For a taste of historic motoring, we saw several vehicles drive around the grounds throughout the day with their occupants dressed in period costume.
We listened as the pianist performs renditions of popular musical pieces from a bygone era in the Lower Drawing Room, typical of Victorian home entertainment.
We escaped from the pressures of modern life and enjoyed some good old-fashioned fun with Victorian games and puzzles on the lawns of Palace House.
We met Lord Montagu's falconer and watched amazing falconry displays. Don't forget to visit the Abbot's Mews exhibition in Beaulieu Abbey to learn more about the history of these magnificent birds.
We then joined a walking tour of the Abbey Cloister and explored the history of its buildings and the life of the monks who lived, worked and died here. Kids also had the chance to dress up as a Monk.
Collect Character Cards
There were lots of interesting historical characters to meet on site! Did you collect all their character cards?
Join Creative Workshops
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout August, we got hands-on with creative workshops in the National Motor Museum.
We took part in a range of activities inspired by the 90th anniversary of Golden Arrow breaking the land speed record.
Timings and content may vary. We reserve the right to amend the programme without warning as circumstances dictate.

Our favourite part was the falconer - we learnt so much. The kids also enjoyed riding the bus, the monorail and seeing the costumed characters!
