See historic vehicles in action...

In 2018 we stepped back in time for summer! It was a fun-filled family day out in the New Forest where living history characters brought Beaulieu to life with the sights and sounds of the past…

We delved into over 800 years of history with special activities and tours that took place every day throughout the summer holidays.

We saw veteran and vintage vehicles driving around the grounds with their occupants dressed in period costumes. We even got a chance to get a closer look under the bonnet and talk to the drivers.

Watch FALCONRY Displays

Visitors met Lord Montagu's falconer and watched amazing falconry displays. We visited the new Abbot's Mews exhibition in Beaulieu Abbey and learnt about the history, care and training of these magnificent birds.

Collect Character Cards

There were so many interesting historical characters to meet on site! Did you collect all their character cards?

Hear vehicles start up

We heard one of the National Motor Museum's vehicles roar into life at 2pm each day.

Visit The Victorian Kitchen

We then visited Lord Montagu's cook or the kitchen maid in the Victorian Kitchen at Palace House.

Play traditional GAMES

Visitors had some good old-fashioned fun with Victorian games and puzzles on the lawns of Palace House.

Enjoy victorian music

We listened as the pianist and singers performed renditions of popular musical pieces from a bygone era.

Dress up in historical costumes

We visited Beaulieu Abbey to dress up as a monk and tried on the costume of a Victorian house guest in Palace House.

Follow the Fairy Door trail

We tiptoed down the Mill Pond Walk to spot the homes of Beaulieu's smallest residents!

Please note timings and content may vary. We reserve the right to amend the programme without warning as circumstances dictate.

Plus... creative fun in the national motor museum

The Drive For Change - Shell

Visitors got the chance to take part in free creative workshops inspired by the museum's project The Drive For Change, commemorating 100 years since The Representation of the People Act was passed, allowing some women, and all men, to vote for the first time.

Stay in touch

Share the snaps of your visit on our InstagramFacebook and Twitter pages. We love seeing them!

Our favourite part was the falconer - we learnt so much. The kids also enjoyed riding the bus, the monorail and seeing the costumed characters!
