Simply Audi is set to become part of the annual line-up of Beaulieu’s Simply rallies after almost 500 Audis and 800 participants turned out for the debut event.

From the diminutive A1 and A2, through the sporting RS models and right up to high-performance R8 sports car, as many as 485 Audis parked up in the grounds of the National Motor Museum to make an impressive display.

Beaulieu Events Manager Judith Maddox said: “We were thrilled by the success of our first Simply Audi and, because it was so popular, will be making the event an annual addition to our growing range of Simply rallies in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.”

Celebrating one of the most respected automotive marques on the road, the rally on Sunday April 29th was open to anyone driving an Audi, regardless of age or model. Fans of German engineering, from the classic styling of the Quattro to the modern curves of the TT, were invited to meet like-minded enthusiasts while also enjoying the features of one of the south’s leading visitor attractions.

Throughout the day, visitors and participants voted for their favourite Audi of the rally in the People’s Choice Awards. Adam Sweatman, from Southampton, took the winner’s trophy for his 2013 Audi A5 coupe which he has transformed into a sleek, low-riding cruiser during his two-year ownership.

Adam said: “I did most of the work myself and I love the attention it gets.” Adam was presented with his trophy and an Autoglym prize by Beaulieu’s Visitor Services Manager Jon Tee.

Runners-up Ian Long, with his Audi Q7, and Glenys Muttock, with her Audi TT RS, both received an Autoglym prize. Ian had driven from Zurich in Switzerland in his brand new 2018 Q7, which he had bought just three weeks before, while Glenys had travelled from Bognor Regis in her 2014 TT RS, which she has had great fun driving during her 18 months of ownership.

Toddler Freddie Debardi, from Dorchester, may be years off the legal driving age but was a hit with show-goers as he trundled through the showground in his miniature Audi R8 replica, which was resplendent in a custom paint finish. He was presented with a special prize of Beaulieu chocolate for getting into the true event spirit.

Simply Audi is part of Beaulieu’s growing range of Simply rallies, which continues with popular Simply Ford on Sunday May 6th, Simply Porsche on June 3rd, Simply VW on June 16th, Simply Land Rover on June 24th, Simply Jaguar on July 8th, Simply Japanese on July 29th and Simply Smart on November 11th.
