Beaulieu is proud to be supporting Fostering Hampshire Children as it launches its public recruitment campaign, #OpenYourDoor, appealing for more foster carers for Hampshire children in care.

With another Hampshire child coming into care every 12 hours, and the county in need of 150 additional fostering households by the end of 2023, Fostering Hampshire Children is asking Hampshire residents to open their doors to provide a child with a safe and loving home.

As the newly-launched campaign gets under way, plans are being made for a special event to take place at Beaulieu to help reach out to local communities, with further details to be announced soon. Beaulieu is one of the campaign partners, with other organisations getting involved including Hampshire Cultural Trust, Marwell Zoo, and the Mayflower Theatre.

Children deserve to feel safe, to be cared for, to be happy, to have a stable home, and to work towards achieving their potential. While Fostering Hampshire Children has been working hard to reduce the number of children coming into care through sector-leading transformation programmes, in Hampshire the gap between children needing a loving home, and the number of foster carers available, continues to widen.

While 33 new fostering households have already been found on the way to the target of 150, there is still a long way to go. #OpenYourDoor has been launched to close the gap, highlighting the accessibility of fostering to everyone.
