A select group of friends and legends of motorsport and motoring journalism gathered at the National Motor Museum on Wednesday 14th July to pay tribute to an icon of the sport.

Thanks to the kindness of Lord Montagu, a commemorative plaque for the late Murray Walker OBE was unveiled between the motor sport and motorcycle sections of the museum by Lord Montagu in front of a small group of invited guests. Richard Morgan of The GT Organisation, who conceived the event said “It was fitting that a small group gathered to pay tribute to our late friend Murray. I knew him from my early childhood and wanted to make sure he was permanently commemorated at Beaulieu, a place that held a special place in his heart.”  Guild of Motoring Writers Chair Elect Guy Loveridge spoke amusingly of his personal and professional memories of Murray, after moving words from both Richard and Lord Montagu.

The unveiling marked the climax of intense activity by both Richard and Guy to make the event happen.
