Enjoy a summer’s evening of Shakespearean comedy in the stunning setting of Beaulieu Abbey Cloister, with an open-air production of Love’s Labour’s Lost on July 11th and 12th.

Settle down in the atmospheric venue, as one of Shakespeare’s most charming comedies is brought to life. The classic tale of love, lust and tomfoolery will be performed by the players of the Castle Theatre Company from the University of Durham, which offers some of the best student drama in the UK and has been touring castles and manor houses across the country for four decades.

The story follows King Ferdinand of Navarre and his three friends, who swear to forsake women for three years while they devote themselves to study. However, they have forgotten to take into account the impending visit of the Princess of France and her ladies. As boys meet girls, vows are tested, emotions run high, disguises are adopted and, against all odds, the characters fall in love with unexpected consequences.

The abbey grounds open at 6pm for picnics, while performances of Shakespeare at Beaulieu begin at 7pm. Performances will move inside the Abbey Domus if it rains.

Tickets can be bought in advance online at £12 an adult and £10 for under-16s and concessions. For tickets or more information click here, email or call 01590 612888. Parking will be available on the Beaulieu attraction arena.
