Lord Montagu has handed the keys for a brand-new Mini Cooper Classic Convertible to the winner of the National Motor Museum Trust 2022 Prize Draw at Beaulieu.

Odafe Jagboro from Southampton was presented with the sporty soft-top outside the Montagu ancestral home of Palace House.

Computer games design student Odafe was bought his winning raffle ticket (number 17607) as an early birthday gift during a day out visit to Beaulieu in August: “My girlfriend Anya brought me to Beaulieu as a birthday surprise, and she bought my car raffle ticket as an early birthday gift.”

“Waw, that’s amazing, was my reaction when I heard that I’d won the prize. I kept asking, are you joking?! when I got the call. I’ll need to learn how to drive a manual car as I’ve learnt to drive using an automatic. It’s an amazing car in pristine condition that I’ve won for £2! The best birthday present I’ve had in my life. Anya and I opened a bottle of prosecco to celebrate the evening we had the phone call from the National Motor Museum.”

Present at the hand-over of the car keys was Rashid Lamjafjaf of Group 1 Mini Farnborough.

The annual prize draw offers the chance to win a car for a £2 ticket and raises money for the National Motor Museum Trust, a charitable organisation which is dedicated to preserving and promoting motoring history.

The money-can’t-buy second prize of a seat on the 2023 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, with the chance to take part in the legendary event as a passenger in one of the National Motor Museum’s treasured historic vehicles (including accommodation in London for one night) has been won by Siqi Han from Southampton (ticket number 14467). The third prize of a trip for three people around the New Forest, in a vehicle from the National Motor Museum collection, including a chocolate treat from the Beaulieu Chocolate Studio (ticket number 06351) was won by Robin Jarvis from Westbury, Wiltshire.

For a chance to win the 2023 National Motor Museum Trust Prize Draw, tickets are on sale at £2 for this year’s car which will be a stylish Mini Cooper Convertible. Runners-up prizes include seat on historic vehicle in the 2024 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, and a trip for three people around the New Forest, in a vehicle from the National Motor Museum collection.
