Lord Montagu has waved off 87 VWs from Beaulieu on a Santa Run to deliver Christmas gifts to youngsters at the Piam Brown unit at Southampton General Hospital.

As many as 183 adults and 70 children took part in the VW Santa Run, topping last year’s turnout of 149 adults and 59 children.

Beaulieu prizes were given to the best dressed drivers and their classic and custom VWs, as they gathered to collect presents for the special centre which treats children and teenagers with cancer and haematological disorders.

Many gifts were added to those presented by Lord Montagu to event organiser Phil Ashby in front of the giant decorated Christmas tree at Beaulieu.

The best dressed people award was won by Adam, Sheryl and Scott Hayward, from Holbury, in their eye-catching Hayward Trike. Lord Montagu presented the winners of all of the categories with a VW-themed cushion and a box of his special biscuits as their prize.

The best dressed family award was won by the Gorajek family, from Blackwater, and the winners of the best dressed family and dog went to the Hale family, from Poole.
