Child Catcher's carriage

...And the villains!

The original Child Catcher carriage will be on display for the first time in the UK. Only two of the four carriages built for filming have survived and this 'hero' carriage was used for all of the key scenes in the film.

If you visit us on a weekend or during school holidays you may be lucky enough to see a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang reconstruction being driven around the grounds (weather dependent).

Original film concept art by Sir Ken Adam, storyboard watercolour artwork by Robert Laing and technical drawings by Peter Lamont will be on display for the first time, along with the solid silver Chitty model bought for producer Cubby Broccoli by his wife Dana.

Discover the Chitty Story

Follow the story of Chitty, beginning with the real-life exploits of racing driver Count Louis Zborowski, whose racing cars were named Chitty Bang Bang because of the sound they made.

See early copies of the book

Originally dreamed up as bedtime stories for his son Caspar, see first edition copies of Ian Fleming's book Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car on display.

The book will be available for purchase in the Beaulieu gift shop, along with the sequels by Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

Snap a selfie

Pose beside the full-size replica of Grandpa Potts' hut, recreated using the original 50-year-old technical drawings. You can also see the actual Spy Phone prop used by the baron's spies!
