Volunteer Museum Attendants

Would you like to be part of one of the most exciting developments in the National Motor Museum’s history?

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to welcome and engage visitors in our brand‑new permanent exhibition, Driven: Britain’s Motoring Story, which opened on 26 March 2026. This vibrant new gallery explores how motoring has shaped British life, culture and society over the decades — and we’d love your help bringing it to life.

About the exhibition
Driven: Britain’s Motoring Story is a major transformation of the Museum space. The exhibition features contemporary displays, interactive experiences for all ages, rotating spotlight loan vehicles, rare and previously unseen collection items, and archive film, sound and stories that surprise, engage and inspire.

What you’ll be doing
As a Volunteer Museum Attendant, you’ll welcome visitors and chat with them about the exhibits in a friendly, informative way; help people of all ages enjoy the displays; keep the exhibition area clean and tidy; help care for the vehicle collection; and support vehicle and visitor safety in the gallery.

Time commitment
Ideally one day per week (or more if you can!) . Core hours are 9.45am to 4.00pm. Flexibility is welcomed. This is an ongoing volunteer role.

Location
National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire. www.beaulieu.co.uk, National Motor Museum, New Forest, Hampshire SO42 7ZN.

Who we’re looking for
No previous museum experience is required.

We welcome friendly, reliable people with an interest in motoring who enjoy engaging with the public.

What you’ll get in return:

Full training, a fun and sociable volunteering experience, new skills for your CV, and the chance to work with an internationally significant motoring collection.

What we ask from you
Commitment to agreed times, completion of training, a positive and flexible attitude, and a willingness to represent the Museum in line with its values.

To apply email your CV and covering letter to: recruitment@beaulieu.co.uk

We will be calling candidates to explain the role and also go through your information, you are then likely to be invited to a chat with the Museum Manager to go through your experience and availability.  We will give all volunteers an Induction and training to support you in your role.

If you require any adjustments to the application process – no problem, let us know.
