THE PALACE HOUSE TOUR
Formerly the 14th century Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House has been home to the Montagu family and their ancestors since 1538. The history of the House and The Secret Staircaseits visitors is fascinating and today, whether your interest is as a private individual, group or part of an educational visit, you can still see the monastic origins of the building and talk to Victorian characters from the House as you explore one of Britain's most visited stately homes.

Above all, Palace House remains a family home. Lord Montagu's family reside in Private Apartments created in one wing, and still use the main rooms on special occasions. Unlike many other stately homes, visitors are invited to tour the private apartments when the family are not in residence. There is a small extra charge for this.

You are invited to take a brief virtual tour now by using the menu on the right. We hope it will provide you with a brief flavour of what you will see when you visit in person.
