EDUCATION AT BEAULIEU ABBEY
The Beaulieu Estate is an award-winning educational resource for all ages in the heart of the
historic New Forest, with all parts of the Estate contributing to the diverse opportunities
available to schools and other groups.
Built in 1204 and partially demolished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the
Cistercian Abbey of Beaulieu offers a number of fascinating study days for KS2 children.
Programmes for other Key Stages are also available.

Monastic Session |
In the role of novice monks, students learn about life in a medieval monastery. This programme can include workshops on calligraphy, felting and spinning. We can help you plan a programme to suit the needs of your group - practice of the vow of silence is a popular optionĀ ! |
The Tudors |
Set post-Dissolution in 1600, this role play day incorporates aspects of the KS2 unit on Tudors. the subjects covered include the Dissolution of the Abbey and its lay ownership. The 3rd Earl of Southampton, a patron of William Shakespeare, owned the Beaulieu Estate in 1600 and children take on the role of his guests to learn more about the crafts, music and dance of the period. Different programmes can be arranged to meet the requirements of your group. |
